How many videographers will be with you at our event?

Just me! I want your film to be about your day, not about making a wedding video. Because of this I film on my own, without a bunch of big tripods and camera equipment. I use a handheld camera stabilizer for smooth cinematic footage as well as a small "monopod" and tripod when necessary for the ceremony and speeches. I like to stay out of the way so you barely notice I'm there. I think this provides the most authentic footage from weddings.

Do you offer photography?

Yes! Portola Studios doesn't personally do photography, but our partner reynarobynphotography.com is an amazing photographer. You can see her work here at reynarobynphotography.com. Tell Reyna we referred you to receive a special discount. Book one of our joint packages and you'll receive a discounted price on video and photos. Check out the pricing page to see our package pricing.

How do you choose the music in our film? Can we give input?

We believe that music can make or break a video so we spend hours going through songs to find the perfect fit for each film. We also have to pay to license all the music that we use in our films (it's illegal not to). That cost is included with your package. You can definitely give input! The only caveat is you have to pick music through a music licensing website such as musicbed.com.  Most mainstream artist's songs cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to license. However there is a ton of great music you can find on these sites from up and coming artists. If you would like to give input on what music is used in your film, just let us know and we'll send you a list of websites to check out.

Do you use a drone?

Check out the Al A Carte section of our pricing page for more info on drone footage. We can add drone coverage to your package however it is dependent on if drone operation is permitted in your venue's air space as well as weather.

How long will it take to receive our video?

Our general turn-around time is 16 weeks. Most films take 50+ hours to produce (this includes sorting through footage, editing and compiling footage, finding music, and editing audio). We ask for your patience as we devote the time required to deliver a beautiful film that you will cherish for the rest of your life.

Do you provide raw footage?

Yes! You can purchase the raw footage by adding "Rough-cut Footage" to your package. Raw footage is great if you think you might want a longer film later on when the stress of budgeting a wedding is over. Please note that Rough-cut Footage contains the good, the bad, and the ugly (not that there is much ugly to be had at a wedding, but you’d be amazed at some of the faces people make or weird things they do when they don’t realize they’re being filmed). You will receive all of the video and audio footage (usually between 500-was 1000 individual MP4 and MOV clips) exactly as it comes out of the camera (no editing, color grading, cutting, or audio editing) on an external hard drive.
